The outreach of competency curriculum innovation

Abstract
The main purpose of this work is to describe the origin of curricular innovation of competency-based curriculum, the world-dissemination process for this curricular innovation and the adoption of the competency-based curriculum by Catholic University of Maule. The research methodology is qualitative innovation started in 1988 in Europe and spread throughout 46 european countries within a 12-year period. In the Chilean case, this educational system has been present since 2003. In 2005, America formally adopted the innovation. Finally, Catholic University of Maule
started the innovation in 2006.
