Abstract

The world population ages at a fast pace, hence there is an increasing number of older adults in Chile. Reaching these ages with a good quality of life makes it necessary for the population to practice physical activity on a regular basis, since the benefits of physical activity on increasing health and life quality are evident. The first part of this article focuses on the physiological aspects that the aging process brings about and what considerations should be kept in mind when planning physical activity for the elderly. We also show a practical experience on working strategies with the elderly. This study was carried out by physical education students of the Los Lagos University, Osorno Campus.
