The Dasein in Heidegger

Abstract

The main purpose of this paper is to offer an introductory and mainly pedagogical review of the term Dasein. After a short introduction about the meaning of the term in the German classical philosophy, the context in which the word Dasein inserts and deploys, is analysed, namely in the context of the question of being in Heidegger’s central work Being and Time. The paper underlines the importance of the term Dasein for the question of being. Hence, it is necessary to clarify some of the assumptions of that question. This only can be accomplished if some fundamental characters of the very being of Dasein are highlighted.
