On participation and political decision-making in chile. Behind the horizon of possibility

Abstract

This article proposes the exercise of identifying the telos of governmental and civic political practices as a key aspect in the shaping of Chilean society. Special attention is paid to how individuals exercise an intrinsically motivated role to participate and make decisions in public life, finding in Aristotelian practical
wisdom the ethical-political premise that would function as a guarantor of the identification of the telos and its achievement. The analysis is structured according to three moments, each characterized by the ways in which people in Chile participate and decide politically. At the conclusion, emphasis is placed on the horizon of meaning of participation and decision-making in public life as an encounter between experience and reflection on experience in society.
