Abstract

Measuring the evolution of young athletes with a potential for high performance provides us with information about their process of improvement in training. This gives us the possibility to plan based on real objectives for future athletes with a similar initial performance level. The aim of this study was to describe the general and specific physical condition and the performance of young throwers included in a regional project for sports development over two years. The throwing athletes were part of the regional project for sports development, lived in permanent concentration, had similar characteristics in terms of age and years of practicing sports, and trained together with the same coach for the two seasons. The obtained results can be used as a guide for coaches who train young throwers. Considering the initial level of athletes, improvement percentage in a year could be between 0.9-42.9% for general physical condition and 4.5-21.6% for specific physical condition.
