Stimulation of perception-driving skills for four weeks in improving basic cognitive skills in children

Abstract

At school, the lack of integration of movement and brain reasoning originates each day more children with problems of laterality and body reasoning. The perceptive-motor exercises would allow the use of movement and body posture to restore brain optimization. The objective of
this research is to evaluate stimulation of the perceptive-motor capabilities for four weeks in the improvement of basic cognitive capabilities in fourth graders of the San José de Renca elementary school. The methodology considered an experimental design with a pre and post test, and an explanatory control group. A non-probabilistic sample was used consisting of 67 students. The results show no significant difference in the improvement of basic cognitive abilities between the control and the experimental group. Although, significant differences were found in the experimental group in contrast to the control group were no significant improvement in terms of the basic cognitive abilities were identified.
