Training and employment screening in professional Sports Science in Chile

Abstract
Objective: to determine features which are involved in the training of specialists in Sport Sciences, considering the academic development phase as well as the professional practice. Method: a validated on-line close question survey was conducted to 135 individuals (102 men, 33 women). The individuals were randomly selected considering students or professionals from the Sport Sciences. Results: Of the individuals participating of the research 65,9% are professionals and 34,1% technicians;37,8% work in educational institutions, 24,4% in sport clubs and 12,6% are in free practice; 38,5% are full time in education, 28,9% with sport training, 58,9% with a defined specialty; 38,5 % prefer short courses for their training, 54,8% assign importance to the academic staff, 16,4% in the area of training and health; 80,2% work in the area they studied, 17,6% on a contract, 15,9% with a fixed-term contract, 26,3% with an indefinite contract; 25,9% affected by the openness to the market experience, 23,3% with quality training, and 20,7% governmental policies. Conclusions: Some situations need to be taken into account and generate polices to allow the increase of participation and validation from diverse areas of these sciences.
