Vigorexia prevalence of university students Temuco

Abstract

The present study addresses the prevalence of Vigorexia in students attending the Coliseo, at the Universidad Autónoma of Chile, Temuco campus. The study was conducted using a non-experimental design of descriptive transversal type, from a quantitative approach. A non
probabilistic sample was used consisting of 200 subjects, who regularly attended the cardiovascular and weight training rooms. To collect data the instrument “Adonix Complex Questionnaire” was used. The results indicate prevalence of mild levels of Vigorexia in 55% of students attending the
Coliseo at the Universidad Autónoma of Chile, while 45% reached the moderate level. Moreover, the teaching career in physical education presents the highest prevalence of Vigorexia with a total of 48 cases; and in reference to gender, women reached 53.4% for Vigorexia at a mild level while males were 56.3% for the same category.
