Implementation of an active work breaks program in chulean university workers

Abstract

There is enough evidence about that physical inactivity is one of the factor that contribute to obesity and other chronic and metabolic diseases. Some evidence shows that interrupt sedentary behaviour could contribute to modify the problem. This research seeks to know the effects in the physical activity level after an active break intervention during working hours. The main result was the modification of physical activity level in 11%, varying from low to moderate level, according IPAQ, where 40 to 49 years female group shows the main modifications (14%). Respect to satisfaction level, 52% of the participants reported it was excellent, 45% very good, and 3% good, noting that 97% of them reported positive modifications in mood after to attend active breaks in the workplace. Further research with objective measures are required in order to verify the impact in workers sedentary behaviours at the workplace.
