Valuation of the maximum consumption of oxygen through aquatic testing. Indirectly through field tests
Main Article Content
Abstract
The resistance capacity can be valued directly in a laboratory analyzing the gases produced by the effort, it is also estimated indirectly through field tests. There are several tests that estimate the VO2 máx. through the jogging, but there is not a test for the aquatic field in the central and south zone of Chile. Therefore, the aim of this study is to establish a test to estimate the maximum consumption of oxygen in free style.
The VO2 máx. is reached between three and six minutes of high intensity effort, so the cardiac frequency also rises up to high values. A certain tolerance to the lactate is needed when doing this effort.
The test consists of reaching the maximum distance in five minutes in free style, and calculating
the VO2 máx. in order to do this, it is established a formula that estimates in ml/kg/min.
