Abstract
The present text aims at providing an overview of the internal aspect of the school system having as referent the so-called society of knowledge and information, a powerful phenomenon emerging in the 90's, and which keeps in constant tension both post-modern society and the school organization in particular. The paper attempts to approach the changing processes from a perspective that seeks to analyze and understand the central aspect for human development. Thus, this paper attends to the meaning of education at the dawn of the third millennium and the range of possibilities exhibited when focussing on human being and their rich and powerful potential.
